The Security Innovation Network (SINET), an organization focused on the advancement of Cybersecurity innovation through public-private collaboration, held its 7th Annual SINET IT Security Entrepreneurs' Forum (ITSEF) whose theme Inspire – Innovate – Engage resonated strongly amongst the participants throughout the day.

SINET programs are supported by the Department of Homeland Security, Science & Technology Directorate and public and private sponsors. Hosted last week at Stanford University, attendees and speakers unanimously agreed that this is the only forum that provides an environment where buyers, builders, researchers and investors can meet face-to-face in a collegial environment with the common goal to advance Cybersecurity innovation.

“SINET forums are dedicated to providing attendees a uniquely different experience where the focus is to build communities of interest and trust that support the advancement of innovation,” said Robert D. Rodriguez, Chairman and Founder, SINET. “The success and importance of ITSEF was underscored by the number of government executives that participated in light of sequestration.

The event drew top government executives from the Department of Energy, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Department of State, DARPA, NIST, In-Q-Tel as well as remarks from Vice Admiral Gerald R. Beaman, Commander of the U.S. 3rd Fleet. The government officials used this intimate forum to share their interests, needs and requirements with private industry, academia, investment and entrepreneurial leaders.”

Highlighting the program was a lunchtime panel session titled, “Venture Capital & Security: Are We at the Dawn of a Renaissance in Security Technology?” Moderated by Brian White of The Chertoff Group, this panel included representatives from some of industry’s most successful Venture Capital firms; Allegis Capital, Greylock Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers and Trident Capital. Learn what the panelists have to say regarding current investment opportunities, where they see the market headed and trends and challenges that organizations need to address in order to ensure success.

“ITSEF brings together the perfect mix of talent, knowledge and entrepreneurism to help bridge the gap between the East and West Coasts in our global fight again cyber crime,” said Greg Oslan, ITSEF panelist, Managing Director at OSG Consulting and former President and Chief Executive Officer of Narus Inc. “At this year’s event, even with government sequestration, the audience continues to expand, the speakers were knowledgeable, and the opportunity to meet new people and discuss how cyber security is evolving was outstanding.”

“The SINET ITSEF, held at Stanford University was above and beyond the best professional forum I have ever attended,” said Philip Maher, Strategy & Vertical Markets, Cloud Cover. “Every detail was executed perfectly. The speakers were dynamic and insightful. The topics and perspectives from each moderator, panel participant, workshop, industry and government representatives were all true ‘tip of the spear,’ forward thinking trailblazers. This SINET event is the standard to match for professional forums and innovation summits.”

ITSEF 2013 sponsors included: DHS, Kauffman, KeyW, RedSeal Networks, ThreatMetrix, DoD, Good, SAIC, AGC Partners, Alvarez & Associates, BrightTalk, Chertoff Group, DLA Piper, EndGame Systems, General Dynamics, Mocana, nCircle, Novetta, QinetiQ, Stanford Computer Forum, Trident Capital, TripWire, Alsop Louie, ForeScout Security, CyberPoint International, Digital Sandbox and Grammatech.
