Tripwire, Inc., a leading provider of advanced threat, security and compliance solutions, has announced that the International Data Corporation (IDC) annual “Worldwide Security and Vulnerability Management 2014-2018 Forecast and 2013 Vendor Shares” report shows Tripwire rose to the second position in the policy and compliance category. With 10.3 percent market share in this category, Tripwire’s market presence now exceeds Symantec and is second only to IBM. Tripwire is also positioned as one of the top five vendors in the overall security and vulnerability management (SVM) market — ahead of McAfee, NetIQ, Symantec, Qualys, Rapid7 and Tenable Network Security.

“We are absolutely thrilled to see IDC acknowledge Tripwire’s growing leadership in the SVM market”

Tripwire SVM solutions protect over a million critical servers and endpoints, with more than 9,000 customers across 91 countries. More than half of Fortune 500 companies trust Tripwire for their security and compliance needs. Tripwire solutions protect many of the largest, most sensitive networks in the world.

“We are absolutely thrilled to see IDC acknowledge Tripwire’s growing leadership in the SVM market,” said Jim Johnson, CEO at Tripwire. “Recognition of our leadership in this market from IDC validates the efficacy of our solutions as well as our company vision and strategy.”

Tripwire’s distinguished market position is the result of three key factors:

Strategic Value Proposition: Tripwire is the only security vendor fully committed to and deeply focused on the policy and compliance category.
Superior Product Technology: Tripwire has accelerated development investments to keep pace with the changing threat environment. Tripwire Enterprise provides the broadest, deepest library of built-in policies and benchmarks, and updates are made on a continual basis to support changing regulatory requirements.
Customer Commitment: Tripwire is deeply committed to customer success. Tripwire enterprise security solutions are designed to support large enterprise deployments and are based on deep domain expertise in security configuration management, vulnerability management, and log and event management. The company has a solid leadership team that has consistently demonstrated stability, growth and innovation.
“Tripwire Enterprise is a great tool for monitoring file, server and router changes in real-time,” said Noel Ormstrom, engineer for PointRoll, Inc. “We use it to confirm that devices are in compliance against a baseline template.”

IDC is the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services and events for the information technology, telecommunications and consumer technology markets. Its market forecasts help members of the IT and investment communities make valuable decisions when developing effective new business strategies. The IDC SVM forecast provides an in-depth review of the security and vulnerability management market, including the security management and vulnerability assessment markets.

“The Security and Vulnerability Management market continues to grow because organizations want solutions that can monitor, report, and analyze diverse security information. Even better is when the analysis can be put into context that is relevant to the company's environment", said Charles Kolodgy, vice president of security products at IDC. "Tripwire has brought together many components that allow enterprises to improve their security decision making and have been rewarded in the marketplace. In calendar year 2013 Tripwire was a top five vendor and they are the largest company focused exclusively on the SVM market."
